燕板发霉怎么办？
板三年以上没洗过？看到霉的时候，其实已经迟了一步。
- 抬头一看，板上一块白粉、一块黑点，屋里一股霉味散不掉？
- 换了新板，几个月后又霉回来？
- 声音换了几次，香也加了，鸟还是不增加，板却一次都没洗过？
先别急着拆板，也别急着换声音。先做一个今天就做得动的动作：喷。不用爬上去一片一片用布抹，1 公升就够喷一整间。
Meranti 是木头，Meranti+ 是照顾这块木头的
很多人第一次看到都会问：Meranti 不是燕板的木头吗？对，马来西亚大部分的燕板就是 Meranti 木。Meranti+ 是专门保养这种板的药水：去霉、去味、防霉。它不是香，不是荷尔蒙，喷了不会把鸟叫来。它做的是把燕子的家弄干净。板干净了，燕子才好增加。
这一瓶，是我们自己家先用的
MDK 第一个自己做的产品，就是为了创办人父亲的燕屋。当年两间屋被劣质加湿器害到燕板严重发霉，到处问人，没有人给得出答案。只好自己去找去霉的产品，再找厂家做一个燕屋专用的版本。最早叫 Fungus Killer，今天叫 Meranti+。
我以前讲错过一句话
2012 年我那本书里写过：燕板不太脏就不用洗，因为洗了会潮、会发霉。那个道理今天还是对的，拿普通水去洗，板真的会霉。变的是工具：今天有专门给燕板用的东西，处理得掉又不伤板。所以我改口了：没洗过的板都要洗，不管屋是新的、五年还是十年。新板也一样，树砍下来那天，身上就已经带着霉菌。

喷了之后会怎样
- 只要喷，不用抹。喷下去会分解板上的霉菌和味道。只有旧窝底和特别严重的那几块要先处理。
- 新板先喷再钉上去，把霉挡在前面，好过等它发了再来救。
- 经实验室检测，有化验报告。板、燕窝、小鸟身上都可以直接喷。
不信可以自己验：同一片板，一半喷清水，一半喷 Meranti+，三天后上去看哪一边干净。燕子不会给你面子，板也不会。

丑话先讲在前面：
- 黑点不是每一种都会消。白色的粉一般会自己不见，黑点要看多严重。
- 它是定期保养，不是喷一次就永远搞定。
- 板发霉一定有原因：底下积水、水汽一直往上升、屋里空气不对流。这几样不动，喷了还会回来，换新板也一样会霉。
- 窝减少不一定是板的问题。板只是其中一条。
下面讲怎么买、怎么用
前面那几件事，你今天就能先上去看，不买也用得上。下面是给决定要试的人看的。
1 公升还是 4 公升：一瓶 1 公升够喷一整间。屋多、或已经固定在喷的，选 4 公升。1 公升买五送一（限马来西亚境内），购物车自动算。价钱和运费也在购物车里自动算。
怎么用（买了之后再看）
- 稀释：1 份 Meranti+ 兑 80 份水。16 公升的喷桶放 200 毫升，1 公升可以兑 5 桶。浓度不是越高越好。
- 一间屋几桶：两层楼店面 20 x 70 尺，每一片板都喷到，正常速度大概 3 桶。只能当参考，每个人喷桶出水量不一样。
- 喷哪里：板、燕窝、小鸟身上都可以直接喷。有窝的板不用避开，也不用等采收完。隔板、墙壁、地上、白钢网、喇叭后面也可以，只有喇叭膜不要对准喷。
- 什么时候喷：早上晴天喷，1pm 前喷完（东马 12pm 前），让板面在鸟回家之前干掉。
- 多久一次：洗完板喷第一次，三到四个月后再喷一轮，之后六到八个月一次。雨季板容易湿，缩到大概两个月一次。采收后建议补喷一次。
- 兑好的药水：三天内要用完，不要留着下次用。
- 跟害虫药：可以同一天做，顺序不能错。先把 Meranti+ 喷在板上，等 15 到 20 分钟，再往墙壁和地上喷害虫药。害虫药不可以上板。
- 喷的人：建议戴个眼罩。在密闭空间对着头顶喷，什么药水都要遮一下眼睛。
常问
喷了有味道吗？鸟会不会跑掉？
稀释之后基本上没有味道，不会让鸟不敢进，也不会让它搬走。
有窝、鸟还在住，可以喷吗？
可以，有窝没窝都能喷。前期就开始喷还有预防作用。
跟传统洗板药水差在哪里？
市面上几乎所有洗燕板的药水都要爬上去用布一片一片抹。Meranti+ 是喷的，你只需要处理旧窝底和特别严重的那几块。
一定要爬上去用布抹板吗？
不是每一间都需要。讲一下屋的年份和大概多少窝，我们跟你讲。
我不采燕窝，也要保养板吗？
要。板是燕子的家，家发霉了、有味道了，谁都不想住。板老化到某个程度，就不是喷一喷救得回来的，那时候是换板的钱。
板发霉了，直接换新板不就好了？
换板不一定救得回来。底下有积水、水汽一直往上升、空气没有对流，这几样不动，新板一样会霉。你换的是钱，不是问题。看到霉，先拍照发过来，我们帮你看是板的事，还是空气的事。
板干净了，鸟还是没增加？
那才是我们真正开始的时候。板只是燕屋里其中一条，洞口、飞行道、声音，任何一样卡住，板再干净鸟也进不来。

Papan sirip berkulat? Apa yang perlu dibuat?
Papan sudah lebih tiga tahun tidak dicuci? Apabila kulat sudah kelihatan, sebenarnya ia sudah lambat selangkah.
- Dongak ke atas, ada serbuk putih dan tompok hitam pada papan, dan bau hapak yang tidak hilang?
- Papan baharu dipasang, beberapa bulan kemudian berkulat semula?
- Suara sudah ditukar beberapa kali, aroma pun sudah ditambah, walet masih tidak bertambah, tetapi papan belum pernah dicuci?
Jangan tergesa-gesa membuka papan atau menukar suara. Mulakan dengan satu langkah yang boleh dibuat hari ini: sembur. Tidak perlu panjat dan lap papan satu per satu dengan kain. Satu botol 1 liter sudah cukup untuk satu rumah walet.
Meranti ialah kayu. Meranti+ menjaga kayu itu.
Ramai yang bertanya: bukankah Meranti itu kayu papan sirip? Betul, kebanyakan papan sirip di Malaysia ialah kayu Meranti. Meranti+ ialah cecair penjagaan khas untuk papan ini: menghilangkan kulat, menghilangkan bau dan mencegah kulat. Ia bukan aroma dan bukan hormon. Ia tidak memanggil walet. Tugasnya ialah membersihkan rumah walet. Apabila papan bersih, barulah walet mudah bertambah.

Produk pertama yang MDK hasilkan sendiri dibuat untuk rumah walet bapa pengasas. Papan sirip di dua buah rumah walet berkulat teruk akibat alat pelembap yang tidak berkualiti. Tiada sesiapa dapat memberi jawapan, jadi kami mencari sendiri produk anti-kulat dan meminta kilang menghasilkan versi khas untuk rumah walet. Dahulu namanya Fungus Killer, hari ini Meranti+.
Sesuatu yang pernah saya tulis, dan kini saya tarik balik
Dalam buku saya pada tahun 2012, saya menulis bahawa papan yang tidak terlalu kotor tidak perlu dicuci, kerana mencuci akan membuatnya lembap dan berkulat. Prinsip itu masih betul hari ini: cuci dengan air biasa, papan memang akan berkulat. Yang berubah ialah alatnya. Kini ada produk khas untuk papan sirip yang dapat membersihkan tanpa merosakkan papan. Jadi pendirian saya berubah: papan yang belum pernah dicuci perlu dicuci, sama ada rumah walet itu baharu, lima tahun atau sepuluh tahun. Papan baharu pun sama, kerana kayu sudah membawa kulat sejak pokoknya ditebang.

Apa yang berlaku selepas disembur
- Sembur sahaja, tidak perlu lap. Ia mengurai kulat dan bau pada papan. Hanya tapak sarang lama dan bahagian yang sangat teruk perlu dibersihkan dahulu.
- Sembur papan baharu sebelum dipasang, supaya kulat dihalang dari awal.
- Diuji di makmal, ada laporan ujian. Boleh disembur terus pada papan, sarang dan anak walet.
Tidak percaya? Uji sendiri: pada papan yang sama, sembur air biasa pada separuh dan Meranti+ pada separuh lagi. Tiga hari kemudian, naik dan lihat bahagian mana yang lebih bersih.

Kami beritahu dari awal:
- Tidak semua tompok hitam akan hilang. Serbuk putih biasanya hilang sendiri, tompok hitam bergantung kepada tahap keterukannya.
- Ini penjagaan berkala, bukan sekali sembur untuk selamanya.
- Papan berkulat pasti ada puncanya: air bertakung di bawah, wap air naik berterusan, atau udara di dalam tidak beredar. Selagi punca ini tidak diubah, kulat akan kembali, malah papan baharu pun akan berkulat.
- Sarang makin kurang belum tentu sebab papan. Papan hanya satu daripada beberapa punca.
Cara membeli dan cara guna
Perkara di atas boleh boss periksa hari ini juga, walaupun tidak membeli. Bahagian di bawah untuk yang sudah memutuskan untuk mencuba.
1 liter atau 4 liter: sebotol 1 liter cukup untuk satu rumah walet. Jika ada beberapa rumah walet atau sudah menyembur secara tetap, pilih 4 liter. Botol 1 liter beli lima percuma satu (di Malaysia sahaja), dikira secara automatik dalam troli. Harga dan kos penghantaran dikira secara automatik dalam troli.
Cara guna (baca selepas membeli)
- Bancuhan: 1 bahagian Meranti+ kepada 80 bahagian air. Tangki semburan 16 liter guna 200 ml. 1 liter boleh dibancuh untuk 5 tangki. Lebih pekat tidak bermakna lebih baik.
- Berapa tangki untuk satu rumah: rumah kedai dua tingkat 20 x 70 kaki, semua papan disembur, kira-kira 3 tangki pada kelajuan biasa. Sebagai rujukan sahaja, kerana kadar semburan setiap orang berbeza.
- Di mana boleh disembur: papan, sarang dan anak walet boleh disembur terus. Papan yang ada sarang tidak perlu dielakkan, dan tidak perlu tunggu selepas menuai. Dinding, lantai, dinding sekatan, jaring stainless steel dan bahagian belakang tweeter juga boleh, cuma jangan sembur terus pada diafragma tweeter.
- Bila: sembur pada waktu pagi ketika cuaca cerah, dan selesai sebelum 1 tengah hari (Malaysia Timur sebelum 12 tengah hari), supaya permukaan papan kering sebelum walet pulang.
- Kekerapan: sembur kali pertama selepas papan dicuci, sekali lagi tiga hingga empat bulan kemudian, selepas itu setiap enam hingga lapan bulan. Pada musim hujan papan mudah lembap, jadi kerapkan kepada lebih kurang dua bulan sekali. Disyorkan sembur sekali lagi selepas menuai.
- Campuran yang sudah dibancuh: mesti habis digunakan dalam tiga hari, jangan simpan untuk guna lain kali.
- Bersama racun serangga: boleh dibuat pada hari yang sama, tetapi turutannya penting. Sembur Meranti+ pada papan dahulu, tunggu 15 hingga 20 minit, kemudian sembur racun serangga pada dinding dan lantai. Racun serangga tidak boleh disembur pada papan.
- Untuk orang yang menyembur: pakai pelindung mata. Dalam ruang tertutup, menyembur ke arah atas kepala, apa jua cecair pun kena lindungi mata.
Soalan lazim
Adakah ia berbau? Adakah walet akan lari?
Selepas dibancuh, hampir tiada bau. Ia tidak menghalang walet masuk dan tidak membuatkan walet berpindah.
Ada sarang dan walet masih tinggal, boleh disembur?
Boleh, papan bersarang atau tidak, kedua-duanya boleh. Mula menyembur lebih awal juga membantu mencegah kulat.
Apa bezanya dengan cecair cuci papan biasa?
Hampir semua cecair cuci papan di pasaran perlu dilap satu per satu dengan kain. Meranti+ disembur. Boss hanya perlu membersihkan tapak sarang lama dan bahagian yang sangat teruk.
Perlukah saya naik dan lap papan dengan kain?
Tidak semua rumah walet perlu. Beritahu kami umur rumah walet dan anggaran bilangan sarang, kami akan beritahu.
Saya tidak menuai sarang, perlukah papan dijaga?
Perlu. Papan ialah tempat tinggal walet. Jika sudah berkulat dan berbau, walet tidak mahu tinggal. Apabila papan terlalu usang, sembur sahaja tidak lagi mencukupi, dan kosnya menjadi kos menukar papan.
Papan berkulat, mengapa tidak tukar papan baharu sahaja?
Menukar papan belum tentu menyelesaikannya. Jika ada air bertakung di bawah, wap air naik berterusan atau udara tidak beredar, papan baharu pun akan berkulat. Hantar gambar dahulu, kami bantu lihat sama ada masalah papan atau masalah udara.
Papan sudah bersih, walet masih tidak bertambah?
Di situlah kerja kami sebenarnya bermula. Papan hanya satu bahagian rumah walet. Jika lubang masuk burung (LMB), laluan terbang atau suara bermasalah, papan sebersih mana pun walet tetap tidak masuk.
Ambil telefon, rakam video dari lubang masuk burung (LMB) terus masuk ke dalam, sambil bercakap tentang apa yang boss nampak. Buka Suara Inap dan rakam sekejap, selepas itu buka Suara Panggil dan rakam sekejap, kemudian hantar kepada kami. Inilah Kaedah Diagnosis Rumah Walet MDK: Diagnosis dahulu, baru bagi cadangan. Percuma. Video tidak cantik pun tidak mengapa. Selepas melihatnya, jika kami perlukan maklumat lanjut, kami akan minta kemudian. Tidak perlu sediakan semuanya sekali gus.
Mouldy nesting planks? What to do
Planks not washed in three years or more? By the time you can see the mould, you are already a step late.
- Look up and see white powder in one spot, black spots in another, and a musty smell that will not go away?
- Put in new planks, and a few months later the mould is back?
- Changed the sound a few times, added aroma, and the birds still are not increasing, yet the planks have never been washed?
Do not rush to tear out the planks or change the sound. Start with one thing you can do today: spray. No climbing up to wipe every plank by hand. A 1 litre bottle covers a whole house.
Meranti is the wood. Meranti+ looks after the wood.
Many people ask: is Meranti not the wood the planks are made of? Yes, most nesting planks in Malaysia are Meranti. Meranti+ is a care solution made for these planks: it removes mould, removes the smell and prevents mould. It is not an aroma and not a hormone, and it does not call birds in. Its job is to clean the birds’ home. Once the planks are clean, the birds can increase.
This bottle started in our own family’s houses
The first product MDK ever made was for the founder’s father’s swiftlet houses. A poor quality humidifier had left the planks in two houses badly mouldy. Nobody had an answer, so we found an anti-mould product ourselves and had a factory make a version just for swiftlet houses. It was first called Fungus Killer. Today it is Meranti+.
Something I once wrote, and have taken back
In my 2012 book I wrote that planks that are not too dirty do not need washing, because washing makes them damp and mouldy. That reasoning still holds: wash with plain water and the planks really will go mouldy. What changed is the tool. There is now a product made for nesting planks that cleans without damaging them. So I changed my answer: planks that have never been washed should be washed, whether the house is new, five years old or ten. New planks too, because the wood carries mould from the day the tree is cut.

What happens after you spray
- Spray, no wiping. It breaks down the mould and the smell on the plank. Only old nest bases and the worst patches need clearing first.
- Spray new planks before installing them, to stop mould before it starts.
- Lab tested, with a test report. Safe to spray directly on planks, nests and chicks.
Test it yourself: on the same plank, spray plain water on one half and Meranti+ on the other. Go up three days later and see which half is cleaner.

The honest part, up front:
- Not every black spot will go. White powder usually disappears on its own; black spots depend on how bad they are.
- This is regular maintenance, not one spray that lasts forever.
- Mould always has a cause: standing water below, moisture rising all the time, or no air movement inside. If those stay, the mould comes back, and new planks go mouldy too.
- Fewer nests is not always about the planks. The planks are only one cause.
How to buy, how to use
Everything above you can go and check today, whether you buy or not. What follows is for those who have decided to try.
1 litre or 4 litres: one 1 litre bottle covers a whole house. If you have several houses or already spray on a schedule, take the 4 litre. The 1 litre is buy five, get one free (within Malaysia only), calculated automatically in the cart. Price and delivery are calculated automatically in the cart.
How to use (read after you buy)
- Mixing: 1 part Meranti+ to 80 parts water. A 16 litre sprayer takes 200 ml, so 1 litre makes 5 sprayers. Stronger is not better.
- How many sprayers per house: a two storey shophouse of 20 x 70 ft, every plank sprayed, takes about 3 at a normal pace. A guide only, since everyone sprays at a different rate.
- Where: planks, nests and chicks can all be sprayed directly. No need to avoid planks with nests, and no need to wait until after harvest. Partitions, walls, floors, steel mesh and the back of tweeters are fine too. Just do not spray straight at a tweeter diaphragm.
- When: spray on a sunny morning and finish before 1pm (before 12pm in East Malaysia), so the plank surface is dry before the birds come home.
- How often: spray once after washing the planks, again three to four months later, then every six to eight months. In the rainy season the planks stay damp more easily, so shorten it to about every two months. A top up after harvest is recommended.
- Mixed solution: use it up within three days. Do not keep it for next time.
- With insecticide: same day is fine, but the order matters. Spray Meranti+ on the planks first, wait 15 to 20 minutes, then spray insecticide on the walls and floor. Insecticide must never go on the planks.
- For the person spraying: wear eye protection.
Common questions
Does it smell? Will the birds leave?
Once diluted it has almost no smell. It will not stop birds coming in or make them move out.
Can I spray while there are nests and birds living there?
Yes, with or without nests. Starting early also helps prevent mould.
How is it different from ordinary plank cleaners?
Almost every plank cleaner on the market has to be wiped on by hand, plank by plank. Meranti+ is sprayed. You only need to deal with old nest bases and the worst patches.
Do I have to climb up and wipe the planks?
Not every house needs it. Tell us how old the house is and roughly how many nests, and we will tell you.
I do not harvest. Do I still need to look after the planks?
Yes. The planks are the birds’ home. Once it is mouldy and smells, no one wants to live there. Past a certain point, spraying will not save a plank, and then you are paying for new planks.
The planks are mouldy. Why not just replace them?
Replacing them may not fix it. With standing water below, rising moisture or no air movement, new planks go mouldy too. Send us a photo first and we will help you see whether it is the planks or the air.
Planks clean, but still no more birds?
That is where our real work begins. The planks are only one part of the house. If the entrance hole, the flight path or the sound is holding things back, the birds will not come in however clean the planks are.
Take your phone and film your way in from the entrance hole, talking as you go. Record the internal sound for a while, then switch to the external sound and record that too, and send it to us.
